REQUESTED: The Specials-S/T

Number 38 on Q Magazine's top 100 best UK bands; maybe they were right, maybe not. I feel the band is a tad overrated but i still enjoy them.

REQUESTED: English Beat-Beat This! The Best Of...

Combining second wave ska, new wave and a bit of punk, The (English) Beat took us all by surprise. That's all i got right now...

The Boys-The Boys

The Boys made arguably one of the best LPs of the 70s with their self-titled first album and provided the template for superior Pop Punk before even the Buzzcocks had got out of first gear.-Last.FM

Gee thanks Last.Fm, they really couldn't of summed it up better. This a fantastic album and a must download for those who love The Adverts, 999, The Vibrators and The Undertones.

http://www.mediafire.com/?y2s45wdl9b1

The Nerves-25TH Anniversary

Ever hear that Blondie song 'Hangin On The Telephone'? Yea i bet you have. Did you know it was a cover of a song done by a protopunk/powerpop band called The Nerves. For fans of The Replacements, The Saints and early Elvis Costello and The Attractions. You'll love this 6 song quickie.

http://www.mediafire.com/?dc1myditjbz

Dick Dale and The Del Tones-Surfin and A Swingin

This is a little known album released in 1963. This is a MUST OWN for Dick Dale enthusiasts and surf rock fiends.

MC5-High Time

This is the unloved MC5 album that made no money and forced Atlantic to drop them. Give it a listen....

  2. "Baby Won't Ya" (5:32)
  3. "Miss X" (5:08)

Thee Michelle Gun Elephant-Collection

I'm beginning to think most of my uploads are must owns (except for that 2000 Specials album) but anyway, this is a must own. If you like Guitar Wolf you pretty much have to like TMGE and vice versa. They go together like peanut butter and jelly (or lamb and tuna fish, harharhar). Anyway if you're wondering why the name is so weird it's because of a mispronunciation of The Damned 'Machine Gun Etiquette'...makes sense right?
  1. "Pinhead Cramberry Dance"
  2. "Young Jaguar"
  3. "Hi! China"
  4. "Smokin' Billy"
  5. "Lily"
  6. "Out Blues"
  7. "Why Do You Want To Shake?"
  8. "Blue Nylon Shirts (From Balcony)"
  9. "Black Tambourine"
  10. "Boogie"
  11. "The Birdmen"
  12. "Baby, Please Go Home"
  13. "Vibe On!"

  15. "World's End (Primitive Version)
  16. "GT 400"
  17. "Cisco"

Screamin Jay Hawkins-The Blues Collection

This is another must download. Screamin Jay Hawkins is a master of his very own brand of overly theatrical rock n roll/blues/r&b that ever existed. Before the garage revolution, Jay was putting out albums that blew everyone else out of the water. If you like Bo Diddley, Carl Perkins, Jackie Wilson and a little bit of Little Richard, you'll love Screamin Jay.

http://www.mediafire.com/?azm0xjx93tu

Spiderbait-Tonight Alright

Spiderbait. I've always seen them as a classic rock revival band along the lines of Wolfmother and Jet but other people have their opinions. With plenty of punk rock, garage and psychedelic influences, these fucked up Australians have been hitting the charts with their music. This album contains the ultra hit 'Black Betty'(originally done by the underrated southern rock band Ram Jam) as well as the garage pop hit, 'Fucken Awesome'. Give this album a listen, but don't forget the Miller Lite.

http://www.mediafire.com/?tpghixdcj1x

The Mummies-Death By Unga Bunga!!

Wow! This is a must own for garage punk/surf enthusiasts. The Mummies are a garage punk bands who's hugest influences are surf and rock n roll bands from the 60's. Big surprise there right? Just think of Thee Mighty Caesars on meth. That's pretty much The Mummies. If you like The Sonics, The Black Lips, and The Detroit Cobras, you'll fucking love The Mummies.

http://www.mediafire.com/?164n80iaiut

Guitar Wolf-UFO Romantic

Ok what can i say...it's Guitar Wolf (RIP Bass Wolf). 3 piece garage punk elitists, it happens. While being stars of Wild Zero they said to have influenced other japanese punk/garage bands such as Teengenerate and Supersnazz. For listeners of Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, The Mummies. The Exploding Hearts and The Milkshakes.

The Gloryholes-Want A Divorce

Take New Bomb Turks, add a splash of Supercharger and a bit of The Marked Men and what you come out with is The Gloryholes. Part raunchy garage rock and part hypercharged punk rock, The Gloryholes gives tons of homages (maybe rip offs, i don't care) of other popularized bands of the genre (give a listen to 'Immune' and you'll hear some familiar Hives riffage), but by the time you realize the album is already finished. Excellent cover art done by underground comic mastermind, Peter Bagge.

The 5,6,7,8's-Can't Help It

Yea you've seen em in Kill Bill, you've heard em in commercials, it's those bloody 'Woo-Hoo!' girls from Japan. The 5, 6, 7, 8's have been steadily rocking since the mid 80's and this first studio album of theirs contains classic rock n roll covers and a slew of catchy surf inspired jams. For fans of The Sonics, The Tornadoes, The Ventures, Link Wray and His Wray Men, The Shadows, Duayne Eddy, Carl Perkins and 100 other artists. This album is pure rock n roll.

  1. "Ah-So"
  2. "Let's Have A Party"
  3. "Pinball Party"
  4. "Jet Coaster"
  5. "Wooly Bully"
  6. "Wild Thing"

  13. "I Was A Teenage Cave Woman"
  14. "Blue Radio"
http://www.mediafire.com/?zaozw84lydz

The Flaming Sideburns-Save Rock N Roll

Finland rock n rollers The Flaming Sideburns cite The Stooges, The Sonics and The Kinks as their biggest influences and they're totally on point. For fans of loud, fast, raw, guitar driven garage punk, or rather, think of them as Finland's very own Guitar Wolf.

http://www.mediafire.com/?esnwizdtt7t

The Sermon-Volume

The Sermon are one of the better underground garage rock bands to come out in recent years. Don't expects The Hives, The Sonics, or International Noise Conspiracy..no this is R&B and psychedelic influenced down tempo-garage rock. For fans of The Bellrays, The Crimson Shadows, Screamin Jay Hawkins and early Fuzztones.

Home Grown-EP Phone Home

Just another classic Orange County pop punk album. A great cover song opens the album and the rest is enjoyable, as well as the joke tracks.
Enjoy!

"This Way" (Lohrbach)
"Sixteen" (Tran)
"Giving Up" (Tran)

Art Pepper-Meets The Rhythm Section

Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section is a 1957 jazz album by saxophonist Art Pepper playing with Red Garland, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones, who at the time were the rhythm section for Miles Davis's quintet.

According to legend, the album was recorded under enormous pressure: Pepper first learnt of it on the morning of the recording session, had never met the other musicians (though he admired them all), hadn't played for two weeks (according to the liner notes) or six months (according to Pepper's autobiography Straight Life), was playing on an instrument in a bad state of repair, and was suffering from a drug problem. (This story is clearly unreliable: the discography in Straight Life reveals, for instance, that he had recorded many sessions in the previous weeks, including one just five days before.) Whatever the truth of the recording's circumstances, it is considered a milestone in Pepper's career, and launched a series of albums for Les Koenig's Contemporary label which remain the cornerstone of Pepper's recorded work.

  2. "Red Pepper Blues" (Garland) –3:39

Oingo Boingo-Only A Lad

What can i say, this is secretly my favorite Oingo Boingo album. The entire album sounds like a fucked up concept album that only the genius of the likes of Danny Elfman, Steve Bartek and
Kerry Hatch could come up with. 'Nasty Habits', 'Little Girls' and 'Only A Lad' have the trademarked Mystic Knights of The Oingo Boingo cabaret like choral sections (you can hear early shades of Nightmare Before Christmas sing alongs in most of the tracks), while 'Perfect System' and 'Controller' still manage to scare even the most free minded with their frequent time signatures. This album should be the starting point for new Oingo listeners...maybe.
Oh yea, The Kinks cover kind of ruins the album from being completely perfect, it's a decent cover but sometimes i skip over it.

"Little Girls" — 3:44
"Perfect System" — 3:46
"On The Outside" — 3:39
"Capitalism" — 3:40
"You Really Got Me" (Ray Davies) — 4:40
"Only A Lad" — 3:56
"What You See" — 3:43
"Controller" — 3:24
"Imposter" — 2:59
"Nasty Habits" — 4:06

The usual different variations, song structures, pacing etc etc of most demos.

    Tracks:
    minor threat
    stand up
    seeing red
    bottled violence
    small man big mouth

    Anchors Away-Nuckin Futs EP

Bandits Of The Acoustic Revolution-A Call To Arms

The Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution, or BOTAR, is a musical collective of a varying and undefinable genre which includes influences from ska, punk, classical and eastern-European style music. It is composed of former Catch 22 members Tomas Kalnoky and Jamie Egan, in addition to Nick Afflitto, Marcy Ciuffreda, Rachel Goldstein, Layton Hayes, John Paul Jones, Achilles Kalnoky, Paul Lowndes, Chris Paszik, Mark Rendeiro, Dan Ross, Pete Sibilia, Shane Thomson, and Natalia Ushak. Unlike other quasi-similar bands of today, which combine primarily ska and punk, BOTAR uniquely blends in a bit of classical music, taking the form of an entirely acoustic ensemble.

    1. "Intro: This Is a Call to Arms" – 1:22
    2. "Here's to Life" – 5:18
      • Kalnoky originally wrote this while still in Catch 22, who performed the song live but never recorded it.This song was later covered by a related project, Streetlight Manifesto, on their first album, Everything Goes Numb.
    3. "Dear Sergio:" – 3:04
      • This is a reworking of a song Kalnoky originally wrote for the band Catch 22. It includes an additional verse that was not in Catch 22's original song.
    4. "It's a Wonderful Life" – 4:56
    5. "They Provide The Paint For The Picture-Perfect Masterpiece That You Will Paint On The Insides Of Your Eyelids" – 3:39

Adrenalin OD-The Wacky Hi Jinks Of... Plus AOD Bonus 7"

"Middle-aged Whore" on Wacky Hi-Jinks was, according to the back cover, "recorded in our underwear." Musically, however, AOD is no joke, a fact immediately apparent from "A.O.D. vs Godzilla," the killer stun-guitar instrumental that opens the album. Again, however, muddy production buries the vocals, spewing funny, satiric lyrics in fuzzy speedrock, leaving incisive numbers like "White Hassle" (alienation at the Castle) and the sketchy "Rock & Roll Gas Station" half of what they might have been.-Trouser Press
